Alhaji Umaru Yar’Adua is the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If I were him, he should not allow in any form to worry when dealing with brickbats thrown at him otherwise he would always be led to wrong methods of handling issues.

Some of the Traditional Rulers in Akwa Ibom together with the Akwa Ibom State Caucus of National Assembly and (including) other praise-singers of Governor Akpabio went through the media in complaining about the way former governor Attah delivered his letter to Governor Akpabio.

Literary scholars and critics who are interested in character portraiture or depiction always look at the characters understudy, what they do, what people say about them, their physical/mental strength and how they manage crisis and their environment especially looking into the future.
Having successfully checked Organized Bank Robberies and achieved appreciable level of success in reduction of criminal activities in Nigeria , Mike Okiro led police, is being confronted by a new wave of politically motivated kidnapping and hostage taking, with serious threat of making nonsense of 2011 general elections?
I was reading Luke Onyekakeyah last week in Guardian, and he dwelt on the efforts of Fashola Babatunde, the action Governor of Lagos State, to turn Lagos into a mega city. A good project indeed , and I know by now, the big plan is afoot. From what I read from Onyekakeyah’s piece, Lagos will sooner or later witness a sprawling architectural masterpiece, but what surprises me, from what I read, was the absence of parking lots in all the overall detail design. We should remember that as the population of Lagos grows, so also the number of cars that ply the roads.

Death is an inevitable and non-negotiable end to every mortal, but the arrival of death need not be sudden and unexplainable. The incidence of mortality can be controlled and managed to the barest minimum by individual and population methods.

Like a common criminal desperate to dig himself out a self inflicted quagmire, Senator Godwin Ehigie Uzamere appears to be breaking the law on all fronts. As soon as Tara, his first daughter from Cheryl (his estranged American wife), whom he abandoned to the foster care system, aired his dirty laundry in public, Senator Uzamere allegedly moved to disown her. On the next court date after our publication, the Senator, via his lawyer and nephew, Eugene Uzamere, swiftly threw in a joker, which is reminiscent of the Evan Ewerem saga.

The 2008 Christmas week would for a long time, remain fresh in the memory of Miss Ngozi Eneremadu . The 27th day of December , 2008 to be precise, has been burnt into her mind with blood and pain.

UBA Capital, the investment banking and asset management division of United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, led other financial institutions to raise N18.5bn for Imo State government to help meet its developmental goals. The issue was the second largest State debt financing in the Nigerian capital markets this year and a clear signal of the depth of investor demand and UBA Capital’s leading role in African capital markets.

Huhuonline.com has learnt that after the deal was signed, the Naira suffered devaluation and lost value viz-a-viz the dollar. No sooner, Dangote’s fist slammed the table and he began applying the breaks. Sources told huhuonline.com that Dangote went back to the Chinese and scaled down the project by as much as 50%. In the process, the Chinese Company reportedly “reimbursed” him up to $900 million which he sold at the black market at the then prevailing exchange rate of $1 to N148 – the exchange rate at the time the loan was contracted was $1 to N120. There have been some reports that Dangote has been trying to arm-twist the Chinese company in re-financing, or cancelling the deal altogether, so he can be reimbursed, consequently leading to another black market trade at the rate of N153 to $1. This “round tripping” by Dangote was a classic Ponzi scheme,

Honourable Wale Alausa, representing Ijebu-Ode Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, has said that governor Gbenga Daniel forced him to take an oath in 2007, contrary to the report in the Nigerian Compass this morning.

THE crisis in Ogun State involving G 15 members of the House of Assembly was triggered by a blood oath taken at a shrine in Ijebu-Igbo, Ijebu North Local Government, last year, the Nigerian Compass learnt last night.

That strange things happen in Nigeria is a trite statement. However, some happenings can stretch the limits of plausibility, for even the most scandal-prone Nigerian. One of such is the report that an agent of Pathfinders International Ltd; an Aviation Service provider hired by Iberia Airlines to manage operations at the Murtala Mohammed International airport in Lagos, has been extorting innocent passengers of huge sums of monies; up to $300, before allowing them to board their flights.

It would be recalled that Danjuma’s acceptance of an offer to be Minister of Defense was one of the reasons, Obasanjo cited for accepting to run for in 1999. Hear him: “I will go on exile if Obasanjo is not elected President”. But when Danjuma celebrated his 70th birthday some years later, our correspondent inquired why he did not invite his friend Obasanjo, he responded “I did not invite him and I don’t know what I would have done if he came un-invited. I would have called the police to throw him out.”

Though Andy Uba has no bank account in his name, huhuonline.com can disclose that the former special assistant (domestic affair) to President Obasanjo just took delivery of a N49 billion private jet. To conceal the entire transaction from law enforcement and media huhuonline.com learnt that Andy Uba instructed that the jet be delivered to his bossom friend Sayoe Dantata.

Inordinate ambition to maintain permanent membership on the list of world billionaires is what is being blamed for alleged connivance of Lagos businessman, Alhaji Aliko Dangote and other notable oil moguls like Mr. Wale Tinubu and Mr. Jite Koloko to cripple Nigeria’s oil refining capacity through elaborate bribery scheme which earned them a staggering N29 Billion profit.

As the next gubernatorial election in Anambra State draws near, the storm appears to be raging very high with the core opposition as well as the other gladiators strategising seriously.

Like the Nation, like its Governors. The Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) cannot be different from the country of which they are a part. In fact, this institution is a microcosm of the Nigerian state. So, for a country riddled with corruption, faltering democratization and bad governance, the Governors of its 36 odd states cannot be expected to be any different.

THE National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested two more members of a drugs cartel that operates at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos. This brings to five the number of such detainees.

Corruption is one of the greatest crimes the world has ever known. But those who are suffering the most from its poison are the least able to fight it; their resources, their health and wellbeing, and their futures have been stolen away. There is no surer salt in the earth of democratic and representative governance. It is for this reason that I call on you to help fight this global injustice

Instead of hiding his head in shame and apologizing to Ndi Anambra, Mr. Valentine Obienyem is now trying to claim the moral high ground as a result of Obi’s camp’s feeling that they have now adequately covered up the Governor’s money laundry run of last Sunday. I have always warned them that despite stealing Anambra State blind in the last three and half years, this is one episode they will never get away with.

After three and half hours of marathon interrogations, the former Managing Director of First Bank Plc, Mr. Sanusi Lamido Aminu Sanusi, was on Wednesday confirmed by the Senate as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Answering questions from Senators, Sanusi urged the Federal Government to double its efforts in the drive towards actualising its seven-point agenda, recommending its conversion into convert the agenda into two or three points for maximum performance. Lamido Sanusi said on Wednesday he would "fast track" the easing of foreign exchange market restrictions and looked to restore confidence in the naira currency. "What we need to do is open the interbank market, to improve the bank open position limits, to go back to wholesale debt auction, and to reverse the emergency measures that were taken, which were temporary, as quickly as possible," he said
